Philanthropy Event Must-Haves
Fall, in my opinion, is arguably one of the best seasons. Alongside pumpkin spice lattes, gamedays, and excuses to wear cozy clothes, it brings back the real star of the season: philanthropy events! Whether your chapter’s event is an athletic event, pasta feed, or gala, we’ve compiled a list of everything you’re going to need for your most successful philanthropy event yet!
A Phenomenal Playlist
No event is complete without the perfect jams. Whether people are waiting in line for pizookies, dancing the night away, or in the middle of a volleyball tournament, music keeps the energy (and guests!) positive. Make sure there’s a solid mix of music for everyone that will be stopping by to donate! If you want live music, reach out to a few acapella groups on your campus to encourage student involvement and make the entertainment so much more engaging!
Food may be the center of your event, or it may not be the focal point. Either way, make sure there are snacks for everyone stopping by! Vegan and gluten free options are always important to consider, and having water on hand for anyone that may want it will make you a stand-out philanthropy host. Most importantly, make sure to have some bottles of water and snacks on hand for all the people staffing the event! Running an event isn’t easy work, so make sure that everyone stays hydrated and fueled.
The Cutest Shirts
Shirts are not only great ways to commemorate such special events, but they’re also great for guests to know who to identify if they have any questions (or want to make a big donation!). If you want to take it to the next level, pre-sell t-shirts as tickets into the event itself, or even buy them for winners of a competition or tournament! Parents also love to buy shirts, so reach out to them, especially since UTees would love to do a philanthropy donation for you when you order with us!
Make sure you leave room for people to donate on the spot! Some people didn’t order a ticket? Sell a few at the door at a higher price! People want to play in a tournament but forgot to register? Have a back-up team ready to take some players. Don’t have a card reader? Make sure there’s a Venmo account ready to go. Luck favors the prepared, so make sure everyone has an opportunity to donate to your philanthropy!
Last Minute Details
Sweat the small stuff when it comes to philanthropy season! Snapchat filters, photo booths, and even a creative Instagram hashtag will help make your event super memorable and interactive for everyone that stops by.
Philanthropy events can be exhausting to plan and execute, but are one of the most rewarding aspects of being in a Greek organization. In the midst of all the stress, take a step back and remember why you’re doing this: you have the opportunity to make an impact on someone’s life, even in a small way-- and that makes it all worth it. So hop to it! Go to a coffee shop, grab a pumpkin spice latte, and get to planning your best philanthropy event yet!
