7 Unique Activities For Big/Little Bonding
Big-little reveal. It’s one of the craziest, most anticipated experiences of joining a sorority. After a week of spoiling your little with all kinds of goodies and sorority gear, it’s time to welcome them into their new fam!! And, whether you’re already super close with your little or you’re still feeling the pressure to become besties with her right off the bat, we’ve got you covered with 7 perfect ways to bond with your new big/little!
1. Make her your carpool buddy!
When I became a big, I always made sure to invite my little to carpool with me to events! This was a great way for us to spend more time together, and going to all of the first sisterhood events of the year allowed her to become more connected to our chapter as a whole!
2. Family Movie Night
You aren’t the only one your new little is worried about getting to know- she’s probably got a grand big, great-grand big and even aunts to meet too! Bring the whole family together for a movie night complete with face masks, takeout and some classic chick flicks!
3. Study Dates
Is it seriously midterm season already? Make time to prep for upcoming exams by inviting your little on a study date! Grab some snacks and camp out at the library for an afternoon or take her to one of your favorite study spots around town.
4. “Date” Night
Take your little out to your favorite restaurant near campus, or switch things up and try somewhere new together! Dinners are a perfect way to get to know each other better one-on-one.
5. Exercise Classes
I know I for one am waaaaayy more likely to go to the gym if I have a partner coming with me. Sign up for a spin class with your little at your school’s recreation center, or head to a drop in class at your local pilates and yoga studio!
6. Go on a Day Trip
Sometimes it’s fun to head out on a road trip and escape the craziness of being a college student! Take your sorority fam on a trip to the beach, the city, or even your hometown to chill out and explore!
7. Mini Gift Baskets
I know this isn’t as much as an activity, but it’s something that my big did for me to really make me feel special! During my first spirit week, she gave me a “Recruitment Survival Kit” complete with keurig refills, nail polish, face masks and some other fun goodies to help me de-stress during recruitment! It was a great way to relieve some of the nervousness I was feeling heading into recruitment :)
I hope these tips and tricks can help you find fun ways to connect with your new big/little! These are just a few of the things that have helped me really connect with my sorority fam. Remember that every big/little relationship is unique, so don’t get too caught up in trying to have the “perfect” big/little relationship!
